Shaun Tavares Riddick Sr.

Shaun Tavares Riddick, Sr. was born on March 14, 1981 in Portsmouth, VA. He grew up in Gates County, NC. He learned to play the saxophone in the sixth grade at Gatesville Elementary School and was a member of school bands through high school. Shaun graduated from Gates County High School, class of 1999. Upon graduation, he continued his education at Livingstone College on a basketball scholarship.

Over the years, Shaun became a jack of all trades. He continued playing basketball, coached youth sports and used his saxophonist talents at church. He also grew to love fishing, working on cars, riding his motorcycle, and building computer servers. Shaun began his IT career as a contractor with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) as an IT Technician, but progressed to become the IT Director for Gamble Guest Care Group.

He was godly, funny, friendly, wise, animated, and thoughtful. Shaun was a great son, husband, father, and friend. His drive for self-betterment paralleled his motivation to help others. His love for Gates County never dissipated regardless of where he resided.
